CHAMPAGNE ABELE 1757

CHAMPAGNE ABELE 1757

Established in 1757 (265 years ago), Maison Abele is the 3rd Oldest Champagne House of Reims and the 5th Oldest House in Champagne. The style of Abele Champagnes is a balance between freshness and density, elegance, and complexity. This is achieved through championing Chardonnay as the lead varietal. A Maison with a rich history. Not only is it credited with pioneering the frozen disgorgement method, but Abele was also a house showcased on the Titanic!

In 1834, the house was joined by Antoine Muller, former Chef de Cave at Veuve Clicquot, where he developed the process of remuage with the Widow Clicquot. When Henri Abele himself took over in 1903, he fine-tuned the riddling rack and was the 1st to freeze the bottle neck in disgorgement.

Maison Abelé has 2 kilometres of underground cellars dug out of solid chalk in the heart of Reims. Devotion to excellence is natural in these ancient, vaulted cellars. Made from the best crus in Champagne, Abele is ready to drink after 3 years of ageing under ideal conditions, away from light and variations in temperature. Production of only 500 000 bottles per year.
